I recently drew an Engagement Caricature. A Proposal Caricature. Do you know what that is? It's when a man calls me to draw a Studio Caricature of him proposing. But instead of mailing it to him, I come to the city and pretend to be a street Artist. So the couple can come walking by, the unsuspecting woman to recognize that it's Them, and......

the rest is up to her!

The man who hired me this week hired a Photographer to come to the event too - Photographer Noelle Soroka. Her pictures are excellent. They really tell the Whole story:

The girl was shaking as she wrote the word "Yes" into her talk-bubble. Actually, they were Both shaking. In front of the Shake Shack (where he told me to set up for them). Her writing. His knees. I ended up adding litl 'shake-lines' near his knees while they lived their moment.

I watched them, thinking that they looked so lucky. Maybe it was just my insides looking at their outsides, but it really looked like they had it all. Love and money and friends and life. The beautiful people.

BTW, it was funny to watch how they both handled their Joy the same way. After the smiles and shakes and easy-quiet-talking, they both took out their cell-phones and started calling everyone they knew :-)

Middle of the night. I feel so tired. So many exciting things I do ~ And I'm only showing my Professional life here. Oh it's all so exciting.

This week I drew Caricatures at two different College Openings in Suffolk County, one Corporate event in the Theatre District, an Engagement Proposal Caricature in Manhattan, and I did Face-Painting at a Nursing Home in Harlem for Grandparents' Day.

Last week it was Caricatures and Balloon-twisting at a 3-year-old's Party uptown Manhattan and another College Opening in Suffolk County.

The week before, it was 3-days of Face-Painting at an NFL event ~ Manhattan Theater District, 60's style Caricatures at a Retirement Party in New Jersey, Caricatures at a Sweet 16 in Yonkers, and Face-Painting at a 5-year-old's Party in Suffolk County. And while I was at it, I took a workshop in Manhattan for Painting Tribal Face-Paintings. The Life of a Freelance Artist.

Imagine this ~ I walk into an upscale Park Avenue Organization, ready to do my thing, ready to draw Caricatures, as hired by my Agent. And my liaison greets me - talking about me Giving My Presentation.

Well, I have certainly done plenty of Presentations before, but I hadn't been told. I didn't come prepared with notes, Sample Caricatures and Sample Portraits, things to give out..... And lucky for me that I hadn't done all that Prep-work ahead of time. Because it wasn't needed.

I told my liaison the situation. I said that I could certainly Wing It ~ that I'm comfortable to talk about my work, but.....

He said that was fine. They really just wanted me to say a few words at the beginning and then to demonstrate.

It's good to be Experienced. It's good to have Faith.
