Engaged !

So many piles of pictures here. So many piles of photographs of pictures here. Every day is filled with more excitement. I barely have time to develop the photos, let alone post them here, before I'm on to the next exciting experience that I want to tell you about.

I figure that I really should get the Halloween pictures up soon - at least before next Halloween. Smile. But first I wanted to show you a special job that I did recently. It was so exciting.

I had been commissioned by a man who wanted to use my Caricature as a way to propose marriage to his Sweetie. He arranged to surprise her by stopping for an supposedly impromptu Street Caricature. Unbeknownst to her, I was to draw her face onto a ready-made picture that I had with me:

It all went like clockwork. I drew her face onto the ready made picture, showed it to them, and asked her what I should write into her talk-bubble. A calm 'what's this' moment, then the smiles broke loose. Apparently she liked the picture - because, yes, it was time for champagne!

There I was drinking champagne 9:00 am with these happy people even though I was also scheduled to draw at a late night Bar Mitzvah that very same day. I never met these people before, yet here I was all involved in their big moment. I love my life. I nearly forgot to take a photo, but I did manage to get this one photo (already in a plastic bag).

And here's the reference picture of the man who dreamed up this proposal. BTW, he was the one who requested 'traditional pose'. He wanted to make sure the message was clear.

That posted, I should put up at least 2 Halloween pictures straight from the camera before I get them printed. Day's a-wastin.

I had been hired to Face Paint for an upscale neighborhood near the U.N.Plaza late afternoon.

After work, I went to visit my web-designer who lives in the Village. My head was spinning from the excitement on the streets there. When I walked back to the subway, I remembered that I had my camera with me from the Face-Painting gig. So I stopped on the street corner and snapped picture picture picture. The action wasn't as big as on my friend's corner, but it was still outrageous:

And while I'm here, I figure I'll post some pictures of Caricatures on t-shirts that I did at a Christening recently. Might seem like just a 'kid's' party, but these parties really are special moments that shape people's lives. I am so fortunate to have a career which involves witnessing special events. I was recently writing to a friend that I used to think that the parties and proms etc were meant to 'prepare' kids for life, but I recently decided that THEY ARE LIFE. That's all there is - who we are when we step into these milestones of life.

BTW, at this particular Christening, they had a lot of family in from Ireland. Some of the very young kids were so excited to meet their wonderful kin from so far away:

I hope to post more of this stuff after I get the photos developed. It was extra work to shrink them down to fit on the blog, but I just wanted to be sure of at least getting some of it posted. I'm so aware that Halloween will be in the past so soon, as people turn their attention elsewhere. Sometimes the world reminds me of '1984' by George Orwell. Newspeak.

Sometimes the world reminds me of '1984' by George Orwell. Today is all that exists.

Wild, but there could be some sense to it. Especially for young people. Why would they care about what I did before - they're living Now, they're celebrating Now, so they want to know what I'm doing Now. It's just that it's so hard to live every moment of Now, and also find more moments to write about it.

If this entry seems all over the place, that could mean that I'm writing well. Because that would reflect my real experience. I'm all over the place! Celebrating Life!

And now on to the next exciting experience!
