I really try to discourage this - someone asking me to draw from a photo at a party. Mostly because it takes me away from relating to the guests - takes me away from the Entertainment part of my work.
But if it's my hostess who asks, well, it's her time to use as she wants. Here's a Caricature that I drew from a photo at a recent Party. The photo, in these instances, is usually too hard to see; but this time I do like what I drew:
