Corporate Events are fun. I feel like they're a good idea for encouraging comeraderie at work ~ I'm sure that many of the Caricatures find their way onto Office walls. Even at the events themselves, it feels like the people who are working together want to be friends (You can click on the pictures on this blog to see them larger):

BTW, this happens to be a Sample of what I do when Black/White Caricatures are ordered. Unless the client is very strict about it, I prefer to use at least a Little bit of Color when necessary.

Did you know that I'm also a Face-Painter? I did a Face-Painting event hosted by Christie Brinkley today. It reminded me of the section of this Caricature blog in which I tell you about the Celebrities I work for. I caught this one, and it reminded me that I think I forgot to mention - and it was over a year ago that I worked for him - that I had drawn Caricatures at an event hosted by Montel Williams also. I try to remember to blog, but so much is always going on.

Still, I consider myself quite fortunate that my Artwork brings me in person to some people who seem Larger than Life - brings me into situations in which I can meet, (even if only briefly), the SuperStars. I am impressed that they really are Super Stars for a reason. There really is a Quality something about them that feels impressive. Even though both Christie Brinkley and Montel Williams were very comfortable people.

Why I was reminded of the Montel Williams event was because they were both Celebrities, and they were both Fundraising Events. Made me feel like the Big People have Big Hearts. They get involved in important causes. And it made me realize that I too could be a 'Big Person'. My jobs get me involved in the same events as the Super Stars. I could help them make a positive difference in people's lives. Party and Event Entertainment ~ This is what I can do.

This day I was hired to work at a Fundraiser to help find a cure for Breast Cancer. It was setting up for the big day on Sunday - culminating in Ellen's Run for the Ellen P Hermanson Foundation.

I'm happy to be able to post this picture. Back in February, I wrote that I want to post some of the pictures I drew so Quickly as per my client's request. And I just got up to it. Here are some of the pictures I drew that night:

The Children were beautiful. They all had much fun at this Dance that the PTA had arranged. Made me wonder about my own childhood. Were we as adorable? As vivacious? As happy? Yes - the answer is Yes. I was There when I was a kid.

But it's hard to visualize what I really looked like. All I remember is how I felt. How I would have been surprised and self-conscious at such an event - not aware of what it was, not aware that I wanted it... But I went along, was led through my life, trained to become a teenager, then trained to become an adult. I remember being so impressed with my older brother. He was so cool. So confident. Trained to become the cool, confident teenager that he later became.

And now I'm wondering if it was such a good idea. I know the adults try to make things easier for us. Try to encourage self-esteem. Try to show us how to handle the events that we will be finding when we're older. But the personalities were so set - based on how we felt, based on what happened during those 'training Dances'. So instead of naturally handling whatever came up when we were 'of age' - based on the more mature convictions that we would have had when we were 'older', our teen years (which then affected how we approached dating, coupling up, marriage, our whole lives, actually), Instead of handling whatever came up when we were old enough to handle it, we ended up handling the things that came up based on how we fit in at the 'training Dance'. Is it good? Is it bad? It is what it is. Who was I? Who would I have been without this sort of care? Just something to ponder. As life goes on.

And on. Another School Dance. Another Graduation. Communion. Sweet 16. Bar Mitzvah. Office Party. Engagement Party. The beat goes on.
