The Best Set Up ~ Updated

Posted Feb 2018

Best Set Up for Basic CARICATURES that are drawn with Markers and Color Sticks.

Now that we have better Lighting choices, an Outlet is Not needed. So here I quickly redrew the outlet out of my previous post about the Set Up.

But as always, NOT TO BE SET UP IN FRONT OF A WINDOW PLEASE. Because Backlighting makes it very difficult to see a person's features.

Of course, this is Not required. I have certainly worked in smaller areas ~ As well as larger areas like On Stage. I just include this design to give my clients an idea of what is usually Best for their Guests comfort. Graceful People-Flow.

In designing your Party, you will need Space for the People to Enjoy each Activity. In the case of Caricatures, it's best if the Artist Sets Up in a way that the Guests can See the Artwork as it's being created.

I've had a lot of Experience in this area ~ it's to the Clients' and the Guests' advantage if I am Set Up this way. As part of the Party. To be Seen is just as valuable as to Have the finished drawings (I usually have plastic bags available so the pictures can be seen safely throughout the Party).

I can draw with just what I bring, but it's more comfortable for the Guests as well as for the Artist if my Client provides 5 Chairs ~ yes with Backs, but No arms. And it feels much more Professional if I'm given a Space which allows for comfortable People Flow.

Several years ago, I drew up a picture to describe this. It shows my preferred Standing Set Up using my old Easel. At that time, I was requesting a Chair on which I could clip on my Lights if needed (so I would need to be near an Outlet for my Lights).

Today I edited that picture for a Client who is preparing for a Boy's Party. It shows my preferred Seated Set Up using my new Easel and a small stand which I might bring along if I feel like I might be needing my Lights. It's best to use a Seated Set Up if I will be drawing Children ~ because they're shorter than I am and because they might not understand/remember to stand in one place for the whole time that I am drawing. In this case, I would need the Client to provide 3-5 Chairs.

Again, I want to point out that I can draw with just what I bring. But I am describing these Set Ups for helping my Clients who want to know what is the Best Set Up.
