On my way to a recent gig, I passed some of my absolute Favorite NYC Sculptures. This one, so unassuming, it immortalizes the humble. Called the Garment Worker.
And I love the way a real solid Pole represents a tiny little Sewing Needle in the Button and Needle Sculpture. So you can imagine how disappointed I feel when I see that they ruined the impact of the sewing needle standing alone by sticking an information booth so close to it. Yes, I'm glad to have an Information Booth ~ quite helpful. But couldn't the planners have given some attention to the aesthetics? Couldn't they have respected the Sculpture of a Sewing Needle that was so much a part of NYC's development?
