But it's been here on my desktop ~ because I like that I used such a traditional painting approach on the IPad that day. (I drew it upside down)

My house has piles and piles of papers all over it just now. Even much more than it usually has ~ never thought that was possible. But I needed work done on the heating system, so the plumber needs access to All the radiators at one time. Including the one that (used to be but im getting new shelves build so it wouldn't obliterate the radiator anymore) is in my Studio. Where I had folders of all the kinds of papers that I pre-prepared for gigs.
I used to do a Lot of Portraits and Alla Prima Paintings (I love Oil Paints). But many years ago, I threw out a room-full of those Paintings because I needed the space for my Party Caricatures. And now that we're tearing apart the whole space egads egads, more old Paintings are surfacing. Intriguing me.
Like this one. I remember what I was doing at that time. This was just a study of a Shiny Cup ~ because I wanted to understand how to make my Portraits Glow. Crudely done, but I like it. Especially the base of the cup and the little plate that it is on

Still into Basics. I drew Pencil Portrait Hair from the photo of woman in yesterday's Excellent Caricature post.
At first, I felt like I forgot how to do Pencil Portraits. But then, my Pencil Lines started turning into Hair. It was all I could do to put down my pencil (for a while) and get back to the jobs that I have here in the Studio.

Every day I keep buzzing out with these Pencil Portrait studies. It's like addictive.
Here I was studying ears. And general imposed lighting for making these studies applicable to my experience when I'm drawing Party Caricatures. I handle so many Party Caricatures. Much fun.
But these Pencil Portraits feel like they come alive under my hand. I'm even wondering if it would be helpful for people to hire me to draw Pencil Portraits of their dearly beloved at Funerals. Watching it happen could feel..... oh i don't know the word. It could catch a grieving person's attention and feel...... um..... intriguing? It's hard to describe the experience with words.
