Getting ready to draw Caricatures at a Big Festival in Southampton this Saturday. To warm up, I decided to draw a new Caricature based on a Reaction Photo that I posted at this website recently. Without looking at the Caricature I had quickly drawn at the Party that day. So I could make sense out of this unique expression.

Hmmmm.... I see that the outside corners of the lower lip could be narrower than the inside corners of the upper lip in this case. At the usual double-bubble of the muscles of the lower lip were replaced with only One bigger sphere.

BTW ~ I was only using the Pink Paper for This Caricature because it was a Scrap Paper that I had here at my desk.

This Client requested that I include a little Cartoony Jungle Animal on each of the Children's Caricatures. She wanted them drawn At the Party. In addition to the Caricature. In Color. And..... Animal? Which ended up causing many of the Compositions to require Bodies also.....

It involved all sorts of extra things to do on each picture. The Guests still want to get their Caricatures quickly. So I just kept draaaaaawing.

I could see why a person might want something like that. It's cute, and it could be fun for a child to relate to something like that. But me ~ It's usually my experience that the Simpler the Picture, with a Statement, drawn with as few lines as needed..... aka the Short Story..... that's what gets the quickest Party Fun Surprises. It felt chancy to switch gears and swing into it when Adult came for their Caricatures. Like an exercise to Alternate Control with Freedom.

I was only given ONE DAY'S NOTICE that I will be drawing the CARICATURES as Mermaids and Mermen at my next Event Egads.

Whenever something unusual is expected, I prefer to have time to play around with some ideas Before I get to the Event. So I started drawing ~ here in my Studio. You can see how I was struggling to come up with a "Manly" Tail is that even necessary? Anyway, after I get these tame drawings done, I might be able to Wow Wild (I hope) with those Tails. I hope I have time to develop my ideas

Being a Party Artist is not the same as just being an Artist. A Party Artist not only creates the Designs ~ She also has to do what her Client tells her.

As an Artist, of course I prefer Events where I am encouraged to create magnificent Designs fitting all sorts of body parts. But sometimes that isn't appropriate. In this case, my Client ~ who had ordered the Freehand Tattoos ~ wanted just a Simple little something ~ perhaps just on their hand ~ so they can feel real cool while they did other party activities. And the Party Room was kept Dark. So I came prepared to do What My Client wanted.

I brought small lights so I could see in just my little area. And I only offered Simple choices to the Guests. They had a great time. My Client had the Party of her dreams. And I feel confident that the Guests Enjoyed the Tattoos the next day(s ~ in the Sunshine) as well as during the Party.

Yes ~ I like to create magnificent designs. And I also like to fit in with the Party
