Getting back to Basics. Today I drew some Caricatures in my Basic Style. Yep ~ I still got it. I used random reference photos from this website.

The first two went as easily as expected. Front view Caricatures. One woman and one man. I didn't need a predraw for either of them.

The 4th one ~ also easy for me. Barely the simplest placement lines for a predraw for this 3/4 view baby.

But the 3rd one. Oy. The one on which I imposed cross-eyes onto the girl. You can't tell here, because I'm only posting the finished one, but I actually tried this one Several times. Just couldn't get it. Needed to be almost Completely Predrawn before inking. I don't know if the problem was caused by this particular look being difficult for me, or if it was caused by my own mind. me. what was going on in my head when I approached it. I hope that by writing about it here, I will keep my eye out for similar type faces to see how I might handle it easier.

Getting ready for tomorrow'sEvent (that would be Today already). I figured I would draw a Plain Direct #Caricature because I will be working with other Artists who kinda 'fill in the blanks'. I used a photo from my website as reference ~ a woman I had previously drawn At a Party.

No predraw. No fuss. No thinking. No jumping in to the interaction. Takin it easy.

But there's always something that catches me. This time, I figured I would pay more attention to Values when I was Coloring it. I wanted everything Colored so the Whites would stand out as White. Here's what I learned from my experience:

1. You don't have to work so hard at an Event. They want it Quick, and my regular Color Application would have been fine. Would have been much Quicker. Even though it wouldn't have empahsized the Whiteness of the Whites.
2. Egads ~ I went for something unusual with the 'Eyes'. I wanted to show the Darkness that I see in the reference photo. Not a good idea. It looked awful. But the show must go on. So what did I do? What did I have here? Oh, just a Wite-Out Roller. That worked.
3. Never Never ever Color the Teeth with the skin-color. Even though I used a lighter touch with it on the teeth. No.
4. And the rest was all fine. I didn't have to Size it specifically for Her attributes. I could just fit in whatever fits in. Probably nobody can tell if I am IN the experience or if I am jus dwawing a pichur. So I can change my intensity based on whatever I feel like doing. For myself.

I keep a folder of paper in my car ~ along with leftover markers that I wouldn't use anymore at Events. I usually use it when I want to draw pictures in my car, but sometimes I bring it in with me to Starbucks or something.

It got Full again today. I looked at some of the pictures that I had previously drawn, and I felt happy to see a batch of Fashion Sketches that I drew for myself inside the car folder. I probably made them a while back ~ based on random photos ~ as Warm-Ups for before going in to handle Party where I would have been drawing Fashion Sketches.

Except the one with the (2) heads. I'm guessing that I would have drawn that one while waiting for a Bus or a Train. It looks like I was using a traveling-person as reference.

I Looove drawing Fashion Sketches. Looking at Fashion. Everybody does it ~

They really are so Entertaining. Feels great to hahaha look at people.

and the picture that includes 2 drawings? Just a quick thing that I did. Turns out that I like how this simple drawing style comes out. Just the answers. Looks clean and fresh.
