Oh they're so cute ~ aren't they? They come to our grown up Parties ~ Weddings, Family Events...... things like that. And they are only the young ones for this little while. Excited to see how a Real Artist sees them. Fashion Sketches.

And us, the adults who make it happen for them..... Oh, we can't help but be amazed by how cute they are

Warming up for today's gig. I used the first photo that popped up on my website. The less animated photo of the first people that I posted in the previous post about the Fun Office.

First I drew a nice plain Caricature like the ones I see online. Nice:

And then the other lady. Not my greatest, but okay:

Then, even though it's more fun for the Artist to draw Individuals, I drew them together on one paper. Because it's sometimes requested at Parties:

Okay. I'm feeling constrained. I switched to Exaggerated:

Okay. But it's not quite Enough. Even though I had gone for the Exaggeration, I still felt constrained by my initial project here tonight ~ of drawing 'Face', aka eyes nose mouth. So I just gave up on drawing it 'Right', and I did it in My Own Style. Exaggerated and free.

Obviously, the style I developed is Better. It evolved through years of Experience. I am reminded once again to Stop second guessing myself.

A person would much rather display the upbeat creative freely Exaggerated picture in the house!

Drawing Couples. Or Small Groups of People. I usually tell them that they All have to be with the Artist the Whole Time that all of them are being drawn. Because I compare back and forth to coordinate a Group Caricature.

Tonight I wanted to see if I could handle it if I just saw one of them at a time ~ having no idea what the others look like until I get up to them. I used photos of men's faces that I found online. I set out to draw 3 people on the page. I chose one photo at random, drew that. Then I chose another photo at random and drew that one one the same page as the first. Then again with the 3rd face.

It turned out okay. I ended up with an excellent Caricature. If I Had to draw that way. But I still plan on requesting that they All hang out by the Artist the whole time that I am drawing a Group Caricature. Because I recognize that the interplay of shapes is missing.

The Guests would have felt happy with this Caricature. They wouldn't have known the difference, but there is a design element that is missing if I can't see them all the whole time I'm drawing the picture:

Lol ~ It would be like..... I wonder if I could draw by seeing just the eyes...... then just the neck...... etc. If I was sticking to Face-Formula, it might be possible, but it sure would be missing the relationships

We had a good time at this Party. I imagine the children will be positively affected by the Graffiti Words. And they usually hang them on the wall in their homes after the Party. The picture (the Word) becomes a basic part of their lives. But I feel like I could have had more impact if I didn't let the children tell me what word they wanted me to write for them. I feel like they already affiliated themselves with the words they gave me. But if I bestowed my random positive words on them, my pictures could have broadened their sense of self.

If people feel like they have only the labels they had already been given, they might feel limited. As though that's all they could be. Or they Must always be That. Pigeon-holed. Possibly even limiting their futures. I, on the other hand, frequently bestow more generalized words on them ~ things like Kindness, Strength, or Lucky.

If we didn't get off on the 'wrong track' (I don't remember for sure, but I think my hostess told the children that they could tell me what word they want me to write for them), I could have helped people access the positive traits that we all have inside ourselves. Sometimes dormant or hidden, but it is there.
