Big Bat Mitzvah. Dressed up children. Magnificent venue. No expense spared. I particularly like when Clients order a Mats and a LOGO. SO THE GUESTS CAN REMEMBER WHICH PARTY THEY WERE AT. I can see just by glancing at these photos that they were drawn at Sabina's Bat Mitzvah. Because THIS PARTY ORDERED A LOGO TO BE PREPRINTED ONTO THE PAPERS BEFORE THE PARTY.

Following are some of the Caricatures that I drew at Sabina's Bat Mitzvah. Helping the Guests have Fun. Helping the Guests Party. And also giving them a PERSONALIZED KEEPSAKE TO REMEMBER BEING AT THIS PARTY.

This particular Party was exciting for me because I had drawn Sabina several times when she was a baby. Her Parents had framed those early Caricatures, so they remembered me when it was time to arrange for Sabina's Bat Mitzvah. It was great to see how that baby had grown soooo beautifully. To see some of the people that I had related to for just a few minutes so many years ago.

BTW: It is best to leave the design of the Mats and the design of the Logo up to the Artist. The Artist knows best what would not complicate her Picture Production during the event. ENTERTAINING at Parties is not the same as dreaming up ideas in the Studio.

I'm amazed at what comes out of me when I draw at Parties. Sometimes because I'm surprised by some Excellent Artwork that just comes out. This time just because the pictures actually look alright even though my client was practically asking me to draw blindfolded with my hands tied behind my back (well, I know I'm Exaggerating ~ Lol ~ Am I allowed to do that in describing my experiences because Caricature means exaggeration? ).

I feel confident that she had the Bat Mitzvah she wanted. I feel comfortable to see that I had the ability to help that happen. Even though I was not allowed to set up in a place where I could plug in my lights. Even though I had to incorporate a logo with the words chosen by my client: "A Day in the Life of Emily" (Isn't that misleading? Would the pictures be interpreted as though each different person was Named Emily?). Even though I had to make the mats a different color than what i usually like for my style of artwork. Even though I had to ascertain the name/spelling of each person drawn while very loud music was played. Even though I had to include hobby - - drawing things that were not being done at that Party...... And she wanted me to do all that Faster than I usually draw just the Face. Hmmmm

I barely had time to look at what I was drawing. Just keep moving moving. Then, when I could see the Caricatures 'the morning after', whew. The Peace that comes after all the Party Excitement feels good.

Note: Logos stabilize the Party Favours. I print up whatever the client asks, but the best logo designs are Simple and To The Point. A label that does not interfere with the picture. Things like:

(Name) and (Name)'s Wedding Date

or Had Fun at (Name)'s First Birthday Party

or Fine Art from (Name)'s Sweet 16 Date

In this case, the client asked for "A Day in the Life of Emily". That complicated the pictures because I had to clarify that each picture was not a picture of Emily. So I had to Write something about the person who was in the picture, including His/Her Name.

Nothing like getting an Experienced Artist for your Events. It really makes a difference. Even now, even me, having been a Party Artist since the previous Century (lol - that was less than 20 years ago ~ It's only 2013 now), but well, that's the Caricature-Way of saying that I've had a Lot of experience working at Parties. A Lot of Experience with all kinds of parties. And all kinds of Art.

Also taught Oil Painting and Controlled Painting. Sumi-e Painting, Color Theory........ Yet it's still better if I have Experiences with a new Activity before offering it Professionally.

Glitter Tattoos. I've been practicing on friends for a few years already. And I've really Upped my Practice onto myself recently. I have all the Supplies and I'll be taking them out to Parties now. But I'm still offering it at a Discounted Rate. Just in case I hadn't thought of something yet.

Some of the things I've learned recently are:

1. Do not rely on the stencils that are sold for Glitter Tattoos. The stencils are usually small dinky things that need freehand embellishments, anyway, so I might as well paint my own shapes. The stencils feel tedious. Not to say that painting with glue is graceful. But at least I end up in a relaxed buzz as I glue, dab, glue, dab, glue, dab..... But when I was using those Stencils, I just felt tense. Not a good vibe for a Party:

   

2. It's much easier to create a Tattoo on a person (or body-part) that's sitting in front of you than to handle that type of painting in a mirror. Here, for example, is a photo of a swirl design that I made with glue in a mirror. Even though the decollete-area is a lovely place for a Glitter Tattoo, it came out so much more gracefully when I was able to see my ankle directly in front of me (as decorated in the previous post):

   

   

3. Do not make Large Closed Areas full of Glitter. Looks and feels Great ~ talk about skin-tight clothing! But I didn't feel comfortable about having such a large area of skin covered. Didn't seem right.

   

4. Be clean with my lines, carefully leaving spaces between the shapes. I liked this tattoo, but it would have been better if I left more spaces:

   

5. Even though I've only used Professional Glitter created and sold explicitly for Glitter Tattoos, some brands are better than others. I didn't like the ones that are not shiny:

   

Now I'm ready to start Glitter Tattoos at Parties. They look so glamourous. I have the right supplies, the right attitude, the right history, and some real experience with both making and wearing the Glitter Tattoos.

Drawing in the Dark. Even though I brought my own lights, my client wouldn't let me set up where I could plug them in.
