I've been doing more with those Glitter Tattoos. They do especially well ~ especially at Sweet 16's

I figure I'll really be busy with them once Pool Parties start. They stay on even in the pool. About a week. Sometimes longer.

Such a nice group of kids. 10-year-old girl's Birthday Party. It's a great age.

I just wish we adults had more time to focus on them. To enjoy their openness. Actually, I even wish we gave the children enough time to Enjoy this time of their lives. I didn't have to see it at the Party, but I know that there are a lot of demands on children these days.

Why do I let some people drive me crazy ~ put a straight-jacket on me ~ ~ ~ I know what I'm doing. I handle more Parties each month than some people even Go to in their whole lives ~

Not a professional Photographer, I tried to snap snap snap some pictures real fast to show the sort of reactions that I frequently get when my client gives me carte-blanche to handle the Party Caricatures the way I know how to. This lovely woman was so Happy ~ This is her reaction to her own Caricature. And she watched me draw several others repeating over and over "You're awesome" to me. Caricatures. Exaggeration. Party Fun. The guests were Enjoying the Party activity:

If you want Caricatures, get Caricatures ~ They are meant for Parties. If you want Portraits, get the real thing ~ something that even took Rembrandt months to create. Don't ask for 2nd-rate Portraits to be drawn in Party-time.

Anyway, still preparing. So I can please my clients. Even the ones who are afraid of the unknown, afraid of giving up control, even of Artwork.

so here I am. Trying to control my pictures. To have Some exaggeration, so they'd be Caricatures, but to limit it for this week's client's request. I'm still working with the reference picture from my previous post of November 17th

I drew the first picture to limit the exaggeration of the woman. I felt like I could still moderately exaggerate the man ~ I decided to make his face thinner.

But oh. Ick. It's so hard to edit yourself in the moment. Real Party Fun involves an Artist working IMPROV. nO THINKing. No RUles. I don't imagine anybody would expect an actor to edit himself while doing IMPROVisational theatre ~ do you? That would make it no longer IMPROV.

Ick ~ I exaggerated the narrowness of his face. Then I stopped exaggerating because my of my client's request. So now it doesn't look good. Because The substance would have had to go Somewhere when I squashed it narrower. After squashing the 'balloon', it becomes Longer.

Not working 'on the spot', as I would be doing at the Party, I was able to redraw the picture. The second one ~ Yes. Feels like it would please both the Client And the artist.

I won't be able to second-guess my decisions at the event. It's going to be hard to 'limit my exaggerations', as my client ordered. So I'm going to spend the next whole day Practicing.

I've worked for so many years to develop my exaggerated Style. It works Great. But here I am - trying to Change. I like to help Everyone put together the Party they want. So they can anticipate joy and celebrations. Even the people who are fearful and controlling. Especially those people. They don't know how to be happy. They need my help.

I once heard a cute expression. This type of Caricature is for people who are looking to hire E-Gogh. Get it?
