Funny, but on the very same day that the Engagement couple had a professional Photographer focused on our small group (just the couple, me, and the photographer), I also had a whole Parade of a Photography Club pass by. This was while I was set up just waiting for my client to come by.

Many of the Photographers in that club chose to take pictures of me. One of them even emailed me his picture. Here it is. By William Hughes. He seemed like an Artist of Note too. What an amazing world. Full of so much Talent.

I discourage drawing from photographs during a Party. There's plenty of people who got dressed up to be seen Right There.

But I'm not in charge. Once in a while, I'm expected to draw from photographs during the Party. Here's 2 that I did at a recent Corporate event.

Don't hide! BE at the Party. Be Yourself. I wish people would Act and Interact themselves ~ ~ not hiding behind their labels, not hiding behind their children.

I like the pictures. I'm just trying to do what's best for the Party.

Sponge-Bob-Square-Pants? Calypso? What else am I supposed to know about - Glamour Shoe manufacturers perhaps?

This sort of stuff comes up every once in a while for me as an Artist. But all I really know is how to make my Own art. I know about line quality, how different supplies respond, composition, proportions, perspective... things like that. I wonder if other professionals are expected to know extended subjects. Like, perhaps a dentist would have to know about fashion? Or or a plumber would have to know about sea-paintings which would be good to hang in a bathroom?

Anyway, I had a job coming up in which my client wanted me to include Color and Theme in each picture. Sponge-Bob-Square-Pants and Calypso Party. Well, I'm not allowed to actually draw Sponge-Bob-Square-Pants ~ Copyright issues. Sponge-Bob was created by Stephen Hillenburg. And I'm not sure what she means by Calypso ~ Hmmm.... castanets maybe? Is that it? Or oh, I think that's Flamingo, not Calypso. Wait, wait. I think Flamingo is a pink bird with a long neck. The castanets and ruffles are Flamenco. Right?

Well, here are my studies ~ I've been focused on this stuff all week:

I felt tired of coming to my own blog to find it starting with someone else's work (the Superheroes in the previous post). Gotta grab something to scan in.

These photos were on my desk. I drew them at a Party a while back. Wondering, should I post them? Shouldn't I post them? Good Caricatures, but the Photos are so dark.

Then I realized that this is a chance to show my clients what happens when the Artist is asked to draw in an unlit area. If you think these photos are hard to see, can you imagine what it's like for me to draw under such conditions?

I am pleased with my work. Looks good. But it would have been more comfortable if I was able to see the people with the lights on:

Sometimes I wonder what the people will see the next morning in the light.
