I just watched the most fantastic movie! Adaptation - starring Meryl Streep and Nicholas Cage. I had my pen moving, just drawing litl bits of whatever I saw - like doodling - while I was spellbound by this profound movie. Who wrote it??? I'll let you know if I find out.

Here are just Some of the words from the movie. Might be slightly paraphrased, might be direct. I just wrote stuff that I wanted to remember. I just drew because that's a good way to relax.

Near the beginning of the movie, Meryl Streep says "I wanted to want something as much as those people wanted those plants." And "I suppose I do have one unembarrassed passion. I want to know what it feel like to care about something passionately."

Then, near the end of the movie, Nicholas Cage is talking to his brother. He tells his brother that he had seen some supposedly fantastic girl (back in high school) who had been making fun of the brother behind his back. The brother says that he had heard it too. But it didn't bring him down. He said "I loved Sara. It was mine. My love. I owned it. Sara didn't have the right to take it away. I can love whoever I want." And he says "You are what you love. Not what loves you."

Here are the pictures that came out of me while I was watching. Not major works of Art. Just the real me. Doing real life. (I think the passion is in the studying, the desire. We don't always have to be intense about it - It's more about always being interested in it. I also think we need both passion And 'ho-hum-drum' both for a full Life. It's like needing both activity And sleep.)

Hi ~ I'll be working 2 big events this weekend. Nothing unusual about that, but I've been sooooo into some detailed Oil-Painted Caricatures today (that take like 10-hours to do each one). Drawing 10 per hour is a different game.

To refocus, I did a few Quick Cacs here tonight. From miscellaneous photos of strangers that I have around here. Well, to make it more interesting for you, see if you can pick out the one of the famous person. One of these Quick Cacs is based on David Bowie:

Whew. I have been so intense lately. With developing Oil-Painted Caricatures and preparing my taxes and even my new program for cleaning the house. In addition to my usual work.

I really enjoyed this break. Just had to simply draw a few faces that are not 'required'. It was sooooo relaxing:

It's amazing. This project sat here for Over Ten Years, but it took less than half-an-hour to do. I just fixed this blanket this morning:

I had made this blanket back when I was in college. Didn't have my own car back then, so when visitors came for one of the guys on the hall, I was 'like a kid in a candy-store' when Russ's parents took me to a supermarket. I'd buy anything. One of the things I bought was some Ugly mustard-colored acrylic yarn and a crochet-hook. Came back and made this blanket with all sorts of scrap yarns - trying to make it prettier than dark-mustard-yellow.

Well, some of the yarns were less than desireable - the blanket soon started to have holes in it.

Do you know the difference between a store-bought-sweater and a hand-made-one? The warmth of this blanket was Special. So I was going to fix it with better yarn - when I got up to it.

That was over ten years ago. Busy days - it never got passed my to do list. Until this morning. A friend could use some Special warmth.

So I sat in front of the tv. With some light-lime-colored yarn (that's the best I had here), and crocheted the holes together. It only took a half-an-hour.

Nothing is a big deal. You just have to decide to do it.
