Repeat Client for tomorrow's Event ~ Hey! That's today already.

I wanted to get some sleep, so I was just going to do a quick linework Caricature with this Event in mind, but..... this is what happens.

The Event is for drawing the Guests as Mermen and Mermaids. For a Beer Company. Not sure, but I think they will be providing the background bodies/scenes this time (they're providing the paper). But just in case, I felt like it wouldn't be a big deal to draw my own while practicing with a random face I found online. But messing around, not Really Doing it, just a waste of time. I finally had to focus.

And it is good that I do Something before an event. Honing my approach now, I'll do better and feel more confident when I'm actually At the Event. First, my Sizing was way wrong. Better now, but I still want to play around with sizes a little more. Then I had trouble turning my front-view body. I really must Look at sideview bodies to figure out how to turn a front-post that I might like. Then, well..... I couldn't get away with 'I'm not really going to give effort to the drawing because it's time to get some sleep' idea. If I want to draw a Caricature, I really have to Do it. The 3rd pass is finally usable. Now I know how to do it.

I'm baaaack. Woke up and I'm able to draw Caricatures again. I attached a small paper to last night's _________________. And as I predicted, I'm super ready to handle tonight's #Event. Only forgot the 'crown' ~ easy ~ but just fussing and complicating my Zone. I can do it when that's what I'm hired for, but I'm supposed to be a CARICATURE Artist. Based on what I actually See.

Oh no. I hope I don't lose my edge. I quickly drew a few warm up Caricatures to get ready for drawing at a Wedding tonight. I picked up the marker, and I just 'went for it'. Nice. Happy. for the First 2 pictures here. Great Party Entertainment.

But then I decided to tone myself down. In case tonight's crowd is.... um.... tight? Is that the word? I mean in case they won't loosen up. So I redrew them both ~ the 2nd ones here. Labeled with a #2 on the pictures. I don't feel like they're better, or even more 'acceptable' for a tight crowd. I HOPE I DIDN'T LOSE MY EDGE. I did not feel happy while drawing the 2nd pictures. And I'm hoping I'll have time to practice duller pictures even more before the performance. Which might get me out of the real Caricature style that I started off with today. (I didn't even have time to finish the 2nd picture.)

Oh ick ~ I don't feel like drawing just now. I wish I was sleeping.

But I figured out how to post my daily drawing here ~ while my regular Computer with PhotoShop isn't available ~ Here is just a quick photo from my phone. I feel like it's time to get back to that daily drawing.

So for tonight, ick, I just scribbled out a girl's face onto one of my Predrawn Body/Hobbies for tomorrow's first Caricature event. To try it out. Ick predrawn Body/Hobby. The predraw came out quite fine, but using it is.... well... you know how it is.

I hope I have time to try out my other Predrawns before the Party too. Because I did learn a lot by doing this one here tonight. Client requested that I prepare Milkshakes for the Girls.

Here's what I learned:

1. Ick what to do with that Predrawn Straw. it landed right at her cheek. Well, I guess none of the girl will have their heads straight up on this Predrawn Body/Hobby. Neck will always have to angle toward the center of the page.
2. You can't see it here (I don't want to post my Client's Predrawn Order before I use them for her), but I totally forgot about the area where I had drawn a hint for the Whipped Cream. I just covered it all up with Hair. Sill looked okay, but.... Whipped Cream! I hope I can keep it in the drawing next time. Some of the times. It's that Straw thing that's really the problem.
3. Don't make such dark brown for the shadows on the face if the girl has light colored skin. Took unnecessary time, and forced me to make the hair darker than I wanted to. Just use the brown stick gentler.
4. Never use any form of Yellow for the teeth. I originally used Yellow Ochre because I was too lazy (did I mention that I wish I was sleeping?) to look for the Peach color. Luckily I had to accentuate the teeth with the black marker afterall. I wish I exaggerated the whole Caricature more anyway. This nicey nice stuff is dull.

Glad I got that out of my system. Now I feel ready to do better

The guy was looking for a Comedian. I said "My Caricatures are Funny." He hired me. A Caricaturist's dream. But what to draw? Can I force 'Funny'?

To see how it might go, I Googled 'Faces of 30 year old men', and I chose the first picture I saw as a Reference. Because, as you can imagine, the people who post their Photos online are usually presenting themselves as Manly ~ these Faces could probably be used for the Cover of a cheap Romantic Novel. And I tried to impose 'Funny' on it. Hahaha ~ I'm laughing already. That's a Funny thing to do ~ not exactly standard Internet Entertainment. But here I am. And that's what I did .

But ummmm.... I have to draw Funny? I just draw what I see. It frequently comes out Funny because well, Sometimes things strike me as Funny. Sometimes it happens as soon as I see the Face ~ Sometimes it just Happens as I'm drawing along..... But sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes nothing strikes me as Funny. I can't control that. I can't Make it happen. Caricature doesn't mean 'Funny'. And it doesn't mean 'Pretty'. It just means 'Exaggeration.'

I tried to Make Myself see it as Funny. What could I do that would be Funny? I jumped right in and drew the first picture here. IglyAngulyAghkGakGak. I got myself in check. "Don't draw so Scribbly, Alison'.

Then I tried it again. The 2nd one is much better. Even though I did not see it as a particularly Funny Face, I managed to make it a Funny picture.

I like the picture. But I feel that ~ by forcing myself to come up with Funny ~ I took away any chance of it happening Naturally. Took the Fun out of Funny
