Preparing for upcoming events. I'm looking forward to the next one ~ with a Client who found me at a previous event. I will probably be able to draw however I want. So I wanted to get in to the Exaggerated Caricatures. I feel pleased to draw Exaggerated Caricatures. It's a less-common skill.

But the following four Events ~ all for One Client through my Agent ~ they said that they loved my Toned Down Caricatures. I feel happy to please people.

So I figured I would play around with Exaggerated Caricatures for the next few days ~ until my next Event. Then I would switch my interest to my Tamer Style. I drew the following 2 Caricatures today ~ based on photos of people that I previously drew just fine at previous events. I wanted to get into the Zone where I make Exaggerated Caricatures

Nice. I feel very pleased with them. I can do this.

But then I realized that the first upcoming gig will be all Adults. And, oh, I spent more than half my off time drawing Exaggerated Children's Caricatures today. It's very different to draw Adults than Children.

Aaaaaaand, btw, the Name of the first Client is the same as the name of the Town where I will be working for the 2nd Client.

Okay. I know what day it is and I know where I am

I don't like Dummying Down, but I'm willing to develop it. So I tried it today. Redrawing Caricatures that I previously drew just fine at Parties. I used a completely different Approach than I usually do. I tried to catch the fill-in-the-blanks stuff that I see some artists do when they are drawing beside me at a #Party.

These dulled out drawings actually do look like some of the stuff that I see drawn by other people. I feel like I could develop it more ~ to make mine look like the better pictures from that genre, but when I spend my time reinventing my wheel, I feel like I might lose my edge for doing the Exaggerated Caricatures that really are the better Artwork.

I have to take a break from it for now. I would Not want to lose my edge.

Sometimes the different styles have more to do with my Appraoch than with what the finished pictures actually Look like. Sometimes. Because I don't worry about how the picture is going to come out. I just Do it.

My New Agent contacted me about Tomorrow's job. She said that they would be providing the paper, and it would be fine if I just draw head/shoulders in black/white. That means, of course, that the Paper will be White!

I figured I should check it out. I felt like I should try a Warm Up on White Paper using Only Black Markers and Black Color Stick.

Oh. Looking at the randomly chosen reference pictures, I sure wish I could use Blue Paper this time. Or at least a pink paper or a brown color stick. But as an exercise ~ to be ready for tomorrow's event ~ I really kept it Black/White.

Success! I didn't need the extra supplies after-all. I feel confident to draw at tomorrow's Black/White event
