Finally. After all these yearsyearsyearsy of drawing at Events, I finally figured out how to let the picture Evolve without a predraw. Inadvertently.

I previously did marker Before colorsticks ~ struggling to avoid (or at least limit) any predraw. But today I did the colorsticks Before the marker.

Since I use leftover supplies for my time-off drawings, my markers ran out of ink today. I was so intent on my drawing, that I had continued without the marker. I just relied on my colorsticks.

But I feel like my drawings should have Outlines at Parties and Events.

So I went back into today's pictures. I changed the Order of Operations ~ adding the marker to the 'finished' drawings. It worked. Seeing Caricatures side by side ~ both before and after markering, I feel pleased. Presence. In an easy and fun way.

By using the color sticks Before the marker, the predraw was easily inherent in the initial drawing. It wasn't an Extra step.

By using the marker After the colorsticks, I was able to focus more cleanly on my line quality than ever before.

I ate dinner at Whole Foods today. Time Off. Just me and my IPad. First I watched my Disney app. Then I turned my attention to that upcoming Digital Caricature Event again. I used the Template that I made last night. The one with all the Layers set to Multiply. It felt Perfect.

I really Enjoyed playing around with this Exaggerated Caricature. But I spent way too much time on it ~ I won't be able to spend this much time on anything I draw at the Party.

So I drew from the Same Reference Photo again ~ a Simpler Caricature. It only took about 6 minutes. I got my game down pat.

I did draw it After spending a lot of time drawing it more Exaggerated, so you could say that that 6 minute timing is inaccurate ~ I already knew the answers. But I feel confident with it. Because I previously experienced that in the imperfect drawing environment of a Party, my Digital Caricatures start feeling so easy ~ and simple ~ as the experience affects me. So I do end up drawing faster than I would if I was playing around with it like I can on my Time Off.

I used the Template that I prepared last night ~ the one with all Layers set as 'Multiply'.

I usually feel like a Client is too full of himself if he can't handle an exaggerated Caricature. But sometimes, like in this case, I'm wondering if this Artist is too full of herself in thinking that her own great creativity is better than just doing it right. It's something else with which I never settle on an Answer. Because there is No Answer. It's all about being in the moment. Doing what works in the moment in terms of Fun and Humility and Ability.

One of this Weekend's Clients requested that I draw the girls 'Pretty'. Black and White. On Smaller Paper than I usually use.

Didn't feel unreasonable. I could do that. But I felt like I would feel more comfortable at the Party if I try it out at home first.

So using Reference Photos that I found online, I drew these on Small 8 1/2 x 11 Paper. The only 'mistake' was that I picked up a Blue Colorstick at first ~ Feels Black and White to me. But I think it will make a difference for my Client. So I made sure to have plenty of Black Color Sticks available

Just by adding a Professional Party Artist to the mix ~ you've not only given your Guests something Unique, but you've also given them a 'Conversation Starter' aaaannnnd a boost that will encourage them to 'Remember Your Celebration even After they leave the Party. Sometimes even Years After your Party. Each Party is Unique ~ The type of Experience you offer Your Guests depends on which Images you offer. Just like you can choose a Pizza Party Or an Elegant Dinner Party, you can also choose Fun CARICATURES Or Insightful CALLIGRAPHY/GRAFFITI WORDS/NAMES, etc. It's more internalized by the Guests when the Party Image becomes part of their own image. They can feel like an integral part of the Party that You Designed.
