A few pictures from a fun Party. Some were drawn with just a Black Marker while I walked around. A good time was had by all.

My work recently took me out of town ~ I was staying at the Tradewinds Resort in St Pete Beach in FL. Real nice place. If I had the time to Vacation, this would have been a perfect place. On the beach. With so many activities right in the hotel.

But what I really wanted to note here was the Artwork in the Guest Rooms. I had been raised to believe I'd find some mass produced junk on hotel walls, so I was really blown away by the quality of the Artwork in my room. Vibrant. Painterly. Expressive. Immediate.

The Agent's job is different than the Artist's job. I just realized that my Agent probably has to jump through hoops to find his 'big' clients. I, on the other hand, do the same things for any people.

One particular Agent has sent me to draw for high ranking executives of American Express/Momentum Worldwide, the cast of Camp Rock, Harry Winston Diamonds, and National Geographic, Marc by Marc Jacobs to name a few. It must be very difficult to be 'found' by the people who are at the top of big corporations, so this Agent must be doing work that I don't even know exists.

Not having done anything different about getting such big clients, I don't feel differently about those jobs. I'm always trying to entertain as well as possible. Always trying to sign drawings that I would be proud of. Always interested in the unique person who stops in my path for a few precious moments.

I want to take this moment to give kudos to the people that make it possible for me to get in to places that might not otherwise have been open to me.

Anyway, still preparing. So I can please my clients. Even the ones who are afraid of the unknown, afraid of giving up control, even of Artwork.

so here I am. Trying to control my pictures. To have Some exaggeration, so they'd be Caricatures, but to limit it for this week's client's request. I'm still working with the reference picture from my previous post of November 17th

I drew the first picture to limit the exaggeration of the woman. I felt like I could still moderately exaggerate the man ~ I decided to make his face thinner.

But oh. Ick. It's so hard to edit yourself in the moment. Real Party Fun involves an Artist working IMPROV. nO THINKing. No RUles. I don't imagine anybody would expect an actor to edit himself while doing IMPROVisational theatre ~ do you? That would make it no longer IMPROV.

Ick ~ I exaggerated the narrowness of his face. Then I stopped exaggerating because my of my client's request. So now it doesn't look good. Because The substance would have had to go Somewhere when I squashed it narrower. After squashing the 'balloon', it becomes Longer.

Not working 'on the spot', as I would be doing at the Party, I was able to redraw the picture. The second one ~ Yes. Feels like it would please both the Client And the artist.

I won't be able to second-guess my decisions at the event. It's going to be hard to 'limit my exaggerations', as my client ordered. So I'm going to spend the next whole day Practicing.

I've worked for so many years to develop my exaggerated Style. It works Great. But here I am - trying to Change. I like to help Everyone put together the Party they want. So they can anticipate joy and celebrations. Even the people who are fearful and controlling. Especially those people. They don't know how to be happy. They need my help.

I once heard a cute expression. This type of Caricature is for people who are looking to hire E-Gogh. Get it?
