Clearing out Clutter. I got rid of Thousands of dollars worth of Oil Paints and Pastels recently. Because I hadn't used them in over a decade. Even though I was very good with them, and most of the were completely new. Unused. And I even had the pastels carefully organized according to Value and Intensity. I'm more likely to make time for cleaner ways to make pictures.
I drew some pictures watching You Tubes. Using just One Black Chartpack Marker felt like Way to Go! Thick strokes as well as a decent point. Calm and Easy. No predraw. No care. Just getting in to the Feel of the people I was watching on You Tube:
Then, going about my day, I grabbed a sheet of paper from my scrap paper pile. To write a shopping list. Surprise! Some previously abandoned picture was in the pile of scrap paper. It's just linework also, but it looks Finer. Because I had been using a Black Tombo Brush Marker. Apparently, I can pick up either style of these Markers that I particularly like ~ love ~ to draw with. Different results, but easy supplies to use. Art isn't supposed to be Work.

Without looking at the previous Caricatures that I drew, I used some of the reference photos from my website to practice the technique that I use for drawing Wild Caricatures. I'm understanding better what it is when I do this. Getting more awareness over how I draw.
I did notice, though, that it's easier to get the Wild Visions when looking at pictures of how people React to what I drew. They might not always be so interesting to look at when they first sit down to be drawn.

This is the sort of stuff I'm talking about. When people can accept themselves and have fun with it.
In this particular case ~ Party already in action ~ Guests already know that the Caricatures are going to be Funny ~ This couple popped up and made an unusual Request. They said that they wanted me to draw them as though the woman is hollering and the man is calmly tolerant of that. Of course, I told them that this is Fast drawing ~ No time to dream up scenarios, sketch them out, figure out ways to describe that ~ But I would keep their request in mind ~ There's no telling what might pop up during the Drawing Experience. One line is based on the previous line.
And look at how it turned out. We all loved the picture.
What they looked like ~ just worked perfectly along with my Sense of Humor. There's no way that I would have known where the drawing of the Faces was going to lead. Instead of knowing the end result, and forcing the picture to depict that; I draw one line at a time, and the finished picture can be Funny based on what happens While We Are Relating to Each Other. It's a relationship that comes out in the picture. A short-term relationship between the Artist and the Guest.
