It's hard to do, but I can do it.

Tonight I wanted to hone my clarification between Tame Caricatures and Exaggerated Caricatures. I'm really developing a very good ability to control this. I set out to draw Tame Caricatures, and they stayed that way. I drew Tame Caricatures. Based on some Photos that I had taken at Events.

But they were all Front Views. When we're involved with people, they have a habit of turning straight toward us. I wondered if I could draw 3/4 view Caricatures even if a person was looking directly at me. It's hard ~ takes a little more time and effort if the Guest doesn't sit in 3/4 view when I want to draw 3/4 view. But I can do it!

Hmmm..... Sometimes the Caricature looks better in the Front View, and sometimes it looks better in the 3/4 View. I feel like the best way to use this skill (if I have the nerve to do it at a Party) ~ is to choose the easiest way to get a good Caricature. I would only choose to draw a Different View than the one that I actually see ~ If I don't feel like the Front View has anything interesting in it. Or if I'm getting tired of drawing Front Views.

I'll frequently make Changes at intervals throughout the Event to keep myself interested. Because if the Artist isn't interested in what she's drawing, usually nobody else will be either. This could be just one more of the many different things that I change up when needed.

I'm at it again. Determined to figure out how to Paint on the IPad the same way I use Oil Paints. I like to use a Limited Palette with Oil Paints. And I was able to Quickly make a comparable Limited Palette with the other Palettes I had previously been making on my IPad.

Even though I prefer Traditional Alla-Prima Painting, I chose to work with Transparencies, aka mixing right along while painting. Because I thought it was going to feel too tedious to mix specific Colors on the IPad. Because the Colors don't work the same way as they do with Traditional Media.

I used one of the Reaction Photos from my website as a Reference. This is what I did.

Look at how clearly my recent practice helped at today's Event. One of the things I was asked to Paint onto my Client's Notebook was a Whimsical Sail-Away Picture ~ Very Colorfully.

This is what I came up with:

I never know where my studies will take me. Tonight I sat down to draw Lines with my Markers (as usual). But I noticed my Color Sticks here ~ Perhaps it would be a good idea to draw (wide-line) Shapes with Those instead.

I tried different Pressures. Nope.

I tried different Papers. Nope Nope.

Maybe I should stop using the Side of the stick. Maybe I should Color Color Color real fast with the Point of the stick. Well.... a little better.... a little smoother...... but I cuts into my mojo.

Perhaps I should use those Artist Chalks that I bought many years ago, but never used. No ~ I still feel like those add to the Show because people don't usually Color with their Gloved Fingers ~ but the actual picture comes out looking Wishy-Washy and it can get on people's Clothing.

Back to the Color Sticks. Perhaps there's a Colorless Blender around here ~ like I'd have time to do That at a Party. But no ~ I was never into that. So I tried to smooth the Color with a Wax Candle. That didn't work. Then ~ hahaha ~ I decided to just make Scribbles of Color with the Point of the Color Sticks (and a Few Small Side-Swipes) ~ and I developed this Playful Color Application. Looks Happy.

What a Surprise. As usual, I don't know where my studies will take me.

I don't see myself using this regularly at Events, but I just Might swing into it once in a while. Makes a Unique and Happy Caricature.
