It's that time again. A lot of Studio Caricatures been coming my way. I never cease to be amazed at how each one is different ~ each client is different. Each picture is different. Each experience is different.

This time I was booked to draw at the older girl"s 5th Birthday Party. My client, having seen my blog, decided that it would be a good idea to draw the Birthday Girl and her sister ahead of time. To have it on display. To make sure they'd have time to be drawn..... So she also ordered a Studio Caricature. Good. That's nice.

Then the Agreement arrived. Ummmm, on it the Mother wrote that the girl is sensitive. So I shouldn't accentuate 'certain features'. Ummmm. Lol. Which features doesn't she like? These girls look like absolute Dolls! Did you ever see anyone so cute??? And anyway, how am I supposed to make it look like them if I'm not free to work with what I See? Has she seen this blog??? I thought this really shows how I see things, how I draw things.

Okay. I start drawing. Thinking Beauty. Lovely. Beauty. Lalala. And here's what I came up with. I love it. Feels perfect. But it's black/white. I was hired to make a Color Caricature. Oh.

So I went to the Office Supply Store. Made a photocopy on Shiny Paper. And Matted it as an extra freebee for my client. Because I thought that Color would ruin it. I'll post the Color copy when I have it.

Studio Caricature. Engagement Gift. Valentine's Day Gift. Anniversary Gift.

It's all good. Always a good time to Enjoy.

2 a.m. - I'm emailing pictures to my Power-Point client. 9 a.m. - Ring, ring - me: Good Morning

client: "fantastic job. listen, because of snowdates, I have another day before the presentation. Can you do another picture?"

me, thinking that I have a 1:30 appointment at the spa, and a 3:30 appointment with my trainer, and I'm on to cook dinner for company tonight....: "Sure. What do you have in mind?"

client: "one face leaning forward on muscular arms......" My client is UP. Talking faaaast. Snap snap, so many ideas...... "Good Morning......"

We hang up, I go to wake up, morning routine..... Luckily I didn't start the picture yet, when,

Ring, ring - "Hi! What's up?"

client: "Could we make that a 2-person Caricature? The first guy leaning over a brick wall. He's in the U.S. - talking to our associate in the U.K - You'd have the Atlantic Ocean in there, and a phone in his hand ..................... ......................... ........................."

then later, middle of the night - I draw the picture first in pencil, then in marker. While erasing the pencil for this upbeat picture, I flip on a movie - Ahhhh "Escape From Alcatraz". Point, Counterpoint.

Crazy day, Wild night, and I'm just sitting here alone. It's a good life:

This lovely woman made the effort to photograph the Studio Caricature I had mailed to her. The photo came out a little blurry, but I was still so happy to get it. They seem more 'alive' to me, somehow. Makes me feel like I'm really part of their joy with the little part I can play. My client emailed me this photo and wrote "He luved it. Thanx Alison!"
